Elephant Cooperation Supports Elephants, Rhinos & People (ERP)
to Establish the ERP Air Wing
Elephant Cooperation is partnering with Elephants, Rhinos & People (ERP) in support of the ERP Air Wing, an innovative aviation initiative designed to protect elephants and rhinos while helping alleviate poverty across Southern Africa.
The ERP Air Wing will deploy a fleet of specialized airplanes capable of operating from short, remote airstrips across conservation areas. These aircraft will fly anti-poaching patrols, wildlife monitoring missions, and conservation support flights, dramatically increasing the ability of conservation teams to protect threatened species and vast landscapes.
Across Southern Africa, wildlife faces growing pressure from poaching, habitat fragmentation, and human-wildlife conflict. Conservation teams on the ground often operate across enormous areas with limited resources. Aviation provides one of the most effective ways to monitor wildlife, detect poachers, and respond quickly to threats.
Aircraft such as the NX Cub and Cessna 182 are uniquely suited for this work. Their short takeoff capability, low fuel consumption, and excellent visibility make them ideal for conservation aviation in remote environments.
